I had this idea pop into my head today while sitting on the city bus. If politicians and political activists want better voter turnout why aren’t they having people vote online? If we are comfortable enough and have enough security measures in place to bank online, then voting for an elected official online shouldn’t be a problem, right? I’m sure there are some plans in the works, but let’s get moving on this already. The rising generation does everything online, so why not vote? Plus I can guarantee you would have a higher percentage of Americans voting if they could simply do it online. I know what you’re thinking, there are plenty of people out there motivated enough to try and get in and hack the system in favor of their candidate or against the opposition, but you have to think they’ll only have 1 day to do so and if they have never seen the system and how it works beforehand that would be tough.
Usually I’m not much of a political person, but because of all the signs, commercials, and flyers I’ve come across lately it’s been on my mind.
Have you heard of voting being moved online? Have any ideas for how we could get more people involved using the internet? let’s here em!
